Bloodroot flowers are one of my favorite signs of spring.  I am delighted every year when I see their white flowers and leafy arms wrapped around them like a warm winter coat.  (Click on images to get a closer look at their "veiny" coats) 

I couldn't resist snapping a photo of the family of three below.
And this little guy below would not be deterred by the rotting contorted filbert log that fell on him.
